OXUM
Synopsis
On a shared trip into nature, unspoken emotions, shifting power dynamics and moments of tenderness slowly surface. Between different languages, rivers, and silence, the film explores the delicate dynamics of a mother-daughter bond shaped by love, distance, and expectation.
Director’s note
OXUM was created as part of the application process for the Cinematography program at Filmakademie Ludwigsburg (Round 2). Upon receiving a theme, the applicant had 72 hours to produce a full short film, with a maximum runtime of 5 minutes.
The story revolves around a Brazilian mother and her German-Brazilian daughter. This detail and the fact that both speak different languages and still understand each other, is very important.
OXUM premiered at the DOJO Headquarter in Berlin (2024).
